Capital Internal Medicine Associates Announces New Collaborative Care Program with Janus Healthcare Partners to Integrate Behavioral Health with Primary Care

Lansing, Michigan – February 16, 2026 – Capital Internal Medicine Associates, P.C. (“CIMA”), one of the largest independent medical groups in Michigan with medical providers serving patients across six locations in the Greater Lansing area, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Janus Healthcare Partners (“Janus”) to launch a comprehensive Collaborative Care program. This initiative reflects CIMA’s commitment to addressing unmet behavioral health needs, which continue to pose significant barriers to care due to limited access and a shortage of consistent, evidence‑based behavioral health services. Through this partnership, Janus will provide Collaborative Care services to patients via referrals from CIMA’s primary care providers.

“At CIMA, our mission has always been to deliver whole‑person care that supports the long‑term health and well‑being of our patients,” said Kristal Richardson‑Aubrey, FNP‑C, who is spearheading the Collaborative Care program for CIMA. “Integrating behavioral health directly into primary care allows us to meet patients where they are, reduce barriers to treatment, and ensure they receive timely, evidence‑based support. Our partnership with Janus strengthens our ability to provide coordinated, compassionate care that improves outcomes in the communities we serve.”

“Janus is proud to expand our integrated behavioral health services across Michigan in partnership with CIMA,” said Nicholas Tcherepnin, CEO of Janus. “CIMA’s longstanding commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centered care makes them an ideal partner. Together, we will deliver team‑based behavioral health resources that extend the reach and impact of their primary care services.”

This new program launch represents continued expansion of its strategic partnership with Great Lakes Physicians Organization (GLPO), one of Michigan’s leading physician organizations supporting practice transformation across hundreds of providers, including CIMA. Through this collaboration, GLPO, CIMA, and Janus will work together to ensure the Collaborative Care program meets the goals of providers, payers, and patients.

Key elements of the Janus Collaborative Care program include:

  • Data‑driven identification of patients needing support for depression and anxiety: Janus uses proactive population health analytics to identify patients who may benefit from behavioral health care—addressing the reality that more than half of individuals with depression or anxiety do not receive adequate treatment.
  • Warm handoffs from primary care to behavioral health: CIMA providers will collaborate closely with Janus behavioral health care managers and patient navigators to ensure patients receive immediate access to care.
  • Evidence‑based clinical interventions: Janus clinicians deliver best‑practice psychotherapy, medication management, and psychiatric oversight, founded on best-practice, evidence-based principles of the Collaborative Care model.
  • Psychiatric consultation to support primary care providers: Janus consulting psychiatrists conduct systematic case reviews to ensure patients are progressing and to guide data‑informed recommendations on care and treatment plans for those who are not improving.
  • Measurement‑based care: Regular assessment of symptoms using validated tools such as PHQ‑9 and GAD‑7 ensures that care is tracked, responsive, and aligned with best practices.

Janus continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to integrated behavioral health across Michigan and other states, forging partnerships with physician organizations, payers, and providers statewide.
